New Dental Waterline Requirements in 2025

NEW REGULATIONS ALERT
I’m reaching out to provide an important update on new waterline regulations just announced by the Georgia Board of Dentistry. These changes take effect January 1, 2025, and while they apply specifically to Georgia offices, it’s critical for all of us to be well-informed.
What You Need to Know
The new Rule 150-8-.05 focuses on dental unit waterline safety, addressing significant risks, including outbreaks of Mycobacterium abscessus in Georgia.
Key Requirements:
✅ Offices must perform quarterly waterline testing.
✅ Offices are required to maintain documentation of test results for at least 5 years.
✅ If test results fail, immediate remediation is mandatory.
These regulations emphasize patient safety and infection control—an increasingly important focus for state boards.
